Lebanon protest enters seventh day


The sit-in protest by opposition forces in Beirut has entered its seventh day. Early morning in Martyrs Square found the Hizbollah-backed protesters relaxed but still, it seemed, resolved to topple the pro-Western government of Prime Minister Siniora. The day before, Siniora had called for the opposition forces to stop digging bunkers and return to the negotiating table. He stopped short, however, of offering the Hizbollah factions a veto-wielding vote in cabinet and its full participation in government that they want.
