That’s how Iraq’s Prime Minister has hailed the sentence of death handed down to former dictator Saddam Hussein for the massacre of 148 shiites in 1982. A visibly shocked Saddam shouted “God is Great” as the verdict was read out. He was forced to his feet after refusing to stand for the judge. Saddam’s half-brother and former Intelligence chief Barzan Ibrahim was also sentenced to death by hanging…along with the head of the former Revolutionary Court, Awad Hamed al-Bandar. While former Vice President Taha Yassin Ramadhan is facing life imprisonment for his part in the revenge killings in the town of Dujail, three others were given 15 years for their role in the killings.
