Airbus has reportedly delayed a decision on whether to go ahead with plans to build its narrow-body A-320 airliners at a plant in China. The Financial Times Deutschland says Airbus won’t make an announcement by the end of September as previously promised.
The report follows last week’s revelation of new delays for the A-380 superjumbo. Boeing – in its first comment on the latest Airbus problems – said it does not expect to gain orders for its aircraft as a direct result of the A-380 delays. Boeing’s marketing vice president, Randy Baseler, says there would only be opportunities if Airbus isn’t able to meet its commitments, but he added he thinks it will.
