The Italian director Emanuele Crialese has walked down the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival, hoping his new movie will take away the top prize in tonight’s closing ceremony. Nuovo Mondo, titled Golden Door in English, follows a Sicilian family’s long and dangerous voyage to the US at the beginning of the last century.
Another favourite is Stephen Frears film, The Queen, which examines how Elizabeth the 2nd dealt with the death of Princess Diana, and her relationship with newly-elected Tony Blair. And the movie Bobby, by director Emilio Estevez, has also been praised by the critics. The film is about the night US Senator Robert Kennedy was shot dead in 1968.
