There is a ray of hope for the families of miners missing in a burning gold mine in Russia. Nine men were rescued overnight after more than two days trapped underground, but a further 12 or so are still missing. A fire broke out in the mine in the Chita region on Thursday morning.
A total of 15 bodies have so far been recovered. Some 30 workers managed to escape when the fire broke out, but more than 30 others were trapped. Authorities say many of the miners had breathing devices, and air is also being pumped into the mine to increase the chances of survival for those still missing.
