The Venice Film Festival has been wowed by the latest movie from Mexican director Alfonso Cuaron. The Children of Men is the story of an apocalyptic world in which humans can no longer have babies. Cuaron’s previous work includes a Harry Potter movie. His new film is set in a futuristic London besieged by illegal immigrants and Islamic militants. He said: “People tell me ‘Oh my God, this is a film where there is no hope’. And a lot of people come and say that it is a film that is very hopeful. The truth of the matter is that they are just responding to their own sense of hope.”
