Venice is hosting eleven days of film – at its 63rd International film festival. As one of the world’s most beautiful and romantic cities it is a setting fit for the glamorous stars who have come from around the world to show their work. A total of 21 films are competing for the prestigious Golden Lion award. All the movies will receive their world premiere at the festival – the first time that has ever happened here. French Actress Catherine Deneuve is the President of the International jury. She and her six member jury will have the difficult task of choosing which film will be honoured this year.
The Festival opened with “The Black Dahlia” – a grisly tale based on the real life murder of a young aspiring Hollywood actress in 1947. It stars Scarlett Johannson, two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank and Josh Hartnett.
