Lebanon’s prime minister has rejected all direct contact with Israel. Fouad Siniora said his country could seek no deals with it, whatsoever. “Our stance is very clear,” he said. “Until there is a comprehensive and just peace based on the Arab initiative, on the basis of that, we have said time and time again, Lebanon will be the last Arab country that could sign a peace agreement with Israel. When the 300 million Arabs agree to it, Lebanon will have agreed.” Siniora went on to say that he believed the Israeli blockade would be lifted in the next few days – something that is key to Lebanon’s efforts to rebuild and recover from the conflict.
