Two journalists kidnapped in Gaza last week have appeared in a video released by a previously unknown militant group. Fox News Channel correspondent American Steve Centann and cameraman Olaf Wiig, from New Zealand, appealed for help in getting released and said they were in “fairly good health”.

Wiig’s wife, Anita McNaught, also a journalist, urged anyone with knowledge of the abduction to come forward. The Holy Jihad Brigades claimed responsibility. They demanded that the United States release Muslim prisoners but did not say what would happen if their command was ignored. Palestinian leaders have called for the captives to be set free, ordering their security agencies to look for them.
