Bush tells Lebanon UN force volunteers: 'hurry'

US President George W Bush has added his voice to calls to bolster UNIFIL, and said to expect another, more detailed, UN resolution on who on the ground would do what.

He also announced the level of aid Washington plans to donate towards fixing damage from the war, which the Lebanese government has estimated will cost $3.6 billion to repair.

“The international community must now designate the leadership of this international force, give it robust rules of engagement and deploy it as quickly as possible to secure the peace,” Bush told a news conference.

“Today I am announcing that America sends more aid to support humanitarian and reconstruction work in Lebanon for a total of more than 230 million dollars.”
