Police in Germany are hunting two men in connection with a suspected terrorist plot last month targeting the nation’s rail network. The pair were captured on camera getting on to trains in Cologne. Two suitcases were later found on trains in Dortmund and Koblenz, containing explosive devices.

Police say their investigations point to a planned simultaneous attack. The devices were fitted with timers set to go off 10 minutes before the trains arrived in the two cities, but neither exploded. One case contained text written in Arabic, including Lebanese telephone numbers.
