Hizbollah says it has destroyed two Israeli tanks during fierce fighting in Southern Lebanon. Lebanese sources say one Israeli soldier was killed and six were injured. More Israeli soldiers were reportedly injured during the course of violent clashes with militants along the border with Southern Lebanon. Israel’s military and civilian death toll now stands at least 101. The towns of Kiryat Shimona, Maalot and Bint Jbeil all experienced intense bombardments and fighting.
Meanwhile, residents of towns and cities in northern Israel are closing their businesses and fleeing their homes, as the number of Hizbollah rocket attacks on the region escalates. At least 28 Israeli civilians have been killed and hundreds wounded since war broke out almost a month ago. Hizbollah have launched more than 2,700 rockets over the border in that time. The Israeli government plans to evacuate around 17,000 residents of border towns in the coming days.
