Israel pounds Lebanon's Bekaa Valley

Israeli warplanes have carried out dozens of air strikes overnight in Lebanon’s eastern Bekaa Valley – a Hizbollah stronghold.
Lebanese police reported over 50 raids on one area in less than half an hour. Local people say that Quilya Dalapha housed launch pads being used to fire Hizbollah rockets. Around 70 rockets were fired into northern Israel on Thursday, according to the Israeli army.

In Lebanon, the cabinet decided to send parliamentary speaker Nabih Berri to Rome in the hope that Italian mediation will help find a solution to the crisis. He is said to have communication links with Hizbollah and Syria. Amid growing concern about the large number of civilian casualties in Lebanon, it has been revealed that a Belgian man of Lebanese origin is considering using Belgium’s controversial “universal jurisdiction” law to file a legal complaint against Israel for its bombardments.
