EU citizens are less sceptical about Turkish membership than a year ago, according to a new Eurobarometer poll. About 48 percent of adults in the bloc are against Turkey’s entry, with Austrians, Germans and Cypriots leading the opposition.

Poland, Sweden and the Netherlands are Ankara’s biggest backers. Last year’s Eurobarometer survey suggested more than half of all EU citizens were against Turkey’s membership, even if they fufilled all entry criteria.
