Burying some of the youngest victims of the Israel-Lebanon conflict – hundreds of people have taken part in the funeral of two Israeli Arab children killed by Hezbollah fire in Nazareth. The city is home to Israel’s largest Arab population. The victims were two brothers aged nine and three. A major wave of rockets struck northern Israel on Wednesday afternoon, battering Haifa, Tiberias, Carmiel, Afula and communities in the Galilee.
Most of them landed in empty spaces but some caused injuries. In Nazareth one hundred and thirty five people were treated in hospital, mostly for shock, but nine were lightly wounded. Israeli vice-premier Shimon Peres sent his condolences, saying rockets did not distinguish between Arabs and Jews.
