Israeli offensive enters seventh day

world news

There is no end in sight to Israel’s bombardment of Lebanon as the offensive enters its seventh day. In the latest air strike, at least six people have been killed in a southern Lebanese village. It brings the death toll in Lebanon to well over two hundred – all but a handful civilians. The bombings started last week after Hezbollah guerrillas seized two Israeli soldiers in a cross-border raid. The militant group has replied with daily rocket attacks on Israeli territory which have claimed 24 lives so far. Israel says it wants to create a buffer zone and neutralise Hezbollah’s firepower.
