Israel turns screw in Gaza

Israeli aircraft have attacked the Palestinian Foreign Ministry, in a clear sign that the two-week old Gaza offensive is to continue, despite the opening of a second front in Lebanon. Palestinian medical sources said at least 10 people were injured, with nearby houses also damaged in the raid. The airstrike in Gaza City was condemned by a Palestinian Foreign Ministry spokesman;

“This shows that the occupying government is continuing its campaign of terror and war against our people and rejects any path to understanding, in order to continue this open war of murder, sabotage and destruction of our people’s livelihoods,” he says.

The overnight attack follows a deadly day in Gaza as Israel pursues its operation to recover a soldier captured in the Strip.At least 24 Palestinians were killed on Wednesday, including nine members of the same family in an air strike that destroyed a house where the army said senior Hamas commanders were meeting. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has expressed his outrage at what he described as Israeli “crimes” against Palestinian families, women and children.
