UNESCO send team to solve Bosnia pyramid mystery

Mystery surrounding Bosnia’s Visocica hill could soon be solved, for years myth has had it that beneath the earth lies one of three ancient pyramids. The United Nations has now announced that it is to send a team to find out once and for all.

Amateur archaeologist Semir Osmanagic has been researching the area, and is sure the team will not leave disappointed: “What is interesting is the pitch. There could be stone blocks, and every 30 metres a terrace, which is about 2 and half metres – and again 30 metres.” Researchers say the hill, which towers over the small town of Visoko is linked by underground tunnels to two other pyramids in the area. Preparations are underway to welcome the UNESCO team and locals are wondering if their arrival could eventually herald a new era of tourism with people flocking to see a historical wonder.
