The first working session of the new Iraqi parliament that was elected in December 2005 has finally got underway. According to the speaker, 154 deputies out of 275 are present. The main Sunni coalition is calling for the creation of a commission charged with amending the constitution adopted in October 2005. Today’s deliberations will be devoted to this issue and to the creation of a body to establish the parliament’s internal regulations.
