Death toll mounts in Iraq

Blindfolded and bound, the bodies of 14 men with bullet wounds have been found in Baghdad. Police say the corpses also showed signs of torture. Elsewhere in Iraq, at least 15 people died today when a man blew himself up in Falluja as recruits waited to join the police force. In Ramadi, a local governor survived an assassination attempt. At least 10 civilians were killed. Sectarian violence has risen dramatically since the bombing of a major Shi’ite Muslim shrine in February.
