War of words in Iranian nuclear crisis

world news

| |

Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said Iran will continue its uranium enrichment programme no matter what sanctions the United Nations threaten.

“If you think by frowning at us, by issuing resolutions, you can impose anything on the Iranian nation, you still don’t know its power,” he told a rally in northwest Iran. Tomorrow the International Atomic Energy Agency will report back to the UN Security Council on Iran’s nuclear energy programme. The United States, Britain and France are calling for sanctions to be threatened if Tehran doesn’t fully cooperate with the IAEA – China wants a diplomatic solution, but it’s unclear whether Beijing would veto any sanctions move.
