Thousands of students have been marching in cities across France a day after the government backed down and scrapped a controversial new job law. The demonstrators have vowed to keep up pressure on the government until new measures to replace the CPE or First Job Contract are passed. Others are going further and demanding the full withdrawal of the Equal Opportunity law which encompassed the unpopular CPE.New plans to help disadvantaged youths find work are being debated in parliament on Tuesday evening. The First Job Contract which made it easier for employers to both hire and fire young people under the age of 26 sparked weeks of unrest in France.
