Support was expressed for a European flagship institute for technology, and a commitment towards postitive discrimination to favour small and medium sized enterprises. The jobs priority was also a major theme – commitments were made to ensure that all school-leavers should have a job within months, when the structures for that proposal are arranged at national levels. On questions of energy, it was agreed that the European Commission set to work on drafting a common energy strategy. Gender equality was also on the agenda – the leaders agreed policies surrounding this would be clarified progressively. National efforts will be re-assessed this June.
