Saudi security forces say four out of five militants killed during a police raid yesterday were on the country’s most wanted list.
One of the dead was allegedly al-Qaeda’s leader in the country. The militants were killed in a shoot-out in a villa in eastern Riyadh.
Police tracked them down after a failed suicide attack on an oil processing plant on Friday.
Police say tests carried out on some of the ammunition and explosives seized after the shootout show they had been used in the oil refinery attack.
The militant deaths mean almost all the suspects on a list of 36 issued by Saudi authorities last year have been killed or arrested.
