A US journalist has been captured by gunmen and her translator killed. It happened in the Adel area of the Iraqi capital close to the Malik bin Anas mosque. “They were filming,” explained a policeman. “Then the gunmen pulled up, took the journalist and killed her interpreter. It was an American journalist.” Gill Kelly, who works for the Christian Science Monitor, was reportedly going to interview a Sunni Arab politican. US and Iraqi troops sealed off the area soon after she was snatched. This is the latest in a spate of kidnappings of Westerners following a relative lull last year.
