Crews battling the flames at a fuel depot north of London say they have extinguished the major fires, but smaller installations are still burning. Firefighters have been working around the clock to bring the blaze under control since it began following a series of explosions on Sunday morning.
Forty three people were injured. Expert say if the blasts had been on Monday morning the human cost would have been far higher. An industrial estate was destroyed by the explosions. Companies have lost their headquarters, with damage estimated at 150 million euros. An investigation to find out what caused the fire is underway. Evacuated residents have been allowed home to collect bare essentials, but are still staying at a hotel.
