Video claimed to show deadly attack on US forces

An Iraqi insurgent group has posted video on the internet which appears to show an attack on US troops in Iraq. It’s not clear if the footage is of a bomb blast which killed 10 marines near the former rebel city of Fallujah earlier this week – one of the deadliest attacks on US troops in recent months. The video was posted by a group calling itself the Islamic Army in Iraq, which has been linked to Saddam Hussein’s deposed Baath Party.

In a statement, it also claimed to have killed and injured US troops in a battle on Saturday in a town north of Baghdad. Elsewhere, in Baquba north of the capital, insurgents attacked a patrol of soldiers, killing 19. Iraq is seeing an upsurge in violence ahead of parliamentary elections on December 15.
