Kazakhstan is gearing up for a presidential poll widely expected to confirm another term for Nursultan Nazerbayev, who has been in power since 1989.The leader’s main opponent has already claimed officials are trying to rig Sunday’s vote in the oil-producing country. The president is accused of ruling with an iron fist and stifling any real opposition. His supporters, however, will not hear a word of it. “It’s thanks to him that we have peace and stability here, without ethnic conflicts,” said one woman. “We can not see an alternative to our president.”
