Officials say the bird flu virus has been detected among more than 1500 domestic fowl that died suddenly in the south of the country. The agriculture ministry says it is possible the strain of the virus is the one that could be dangerous to humans. The outbreak was detected on the Crimea Peninsula. Samples are now being sent to Britain for further analysis. The lethal H5N1 virus has already been discovered in neighbouring Romania and Russia, and an action plan is now in place to try to stop it from spreading.
