Hundreds of motorists rescued in UK blizzard

world news

Things are slowly returning to normal in southwest England after blizzards closed a major road, leaving up to a thousand people stranded. Police say hundreds of motorists had to be rescued, and some schools decided to accommodate their children overnight to avoid a dangerous journey home.

Vehicles, including buses, were trapped on the A30 road near Bodmin Moor. Snow disrupted transport across many parts of Europe on Friday. Weather experts are warning motorists and pedestrians to take care today because of the likelihood of melted snow turning into slippery ice.
