Up to seven workers building a new motorway in southern Spain have died after the collapse of part of a viaduct. Some reports say the death toll is closer to 20. The accident happened at Almunecar, near Granada, on the southern Mediterranean coast. The concrete platform is said to have fallen about 80 metres.

Some media reports say that up to 40 men were working on the project, and an unknown number are unaccounted for.
