On the day Iraqi authorities confirm the results of the referendum on a new constitution, there has been another wave of deadly attacks by insurgents. t least nine people have died in a bomb attack in the northern Iraqi city of Sulaimaniya. Suicide car bombers have also struck twice in the suburbs of Baghdad, killing two people and injuring several others.The explosions follow the triple bombing that killed at least 12 people and injured more than 20 others outside the capital’s Sheraton and Palestine Hotels. lthough the hotels are used by foreign journalists and contractors, no foreigners or US soldiers died in the attack. lsewhere, officials say the number of US soldiers killed in Iraq since the invasion of 2003 has now passed the 2,000 mark. Observers say it is a psychological barrier that is likely to prompt new calls for the US President to outline an exit strategy.
