The European Commission has confirmed that dead birds in Romania have tested positive for bird flu.

From today the EU will ban all poultry and feather imports from the country. Results on samples from Turkey, where a suspected outbreak has taken place, are expected later in the week. Romania has culled thousands of birds, fearing they may have been infected withthe deadly H5N1 strain of the virus.
