Just as residents of New Orleans return to what is left of their homes, the city is once again bracing itself for the worst.

US President George W. Bush has returned to the zone devastated by Hurricane Katrina, and was briefed on the new threat posed by Rita when it was still a category two storm. “We are watching Rita´s track very closely. Up and down this coastline people are preparing for what is anticipated to be yet another significant storm,” Bush said. It is thought Rita could strike Texas by the weekend, where many of Katrina’s victims have taken refuge. The county of Galveston in Texas is set to issue a compulsory evacuation order.
