Israeli settlers start exodus as resisters dig in

It is the beginning of the end for thousands of Jewish settlers across the Gaza Strip. Lorries loaded with anything that can be carried have been constantly rolling out of settlements. Nothing has been left at all in some areas. Israeli soldiers will seal off the settlements at midnight on Sunday marking the start of operation “Brotherly Hand”.

In total, Israel will withdraw from all 21 settlements in Gaza and four of 120 in the West Bank. From tomorrow, Israeli troops will go from house to house telling any remaining settlers they have 48 hours to go. On Wednesday, any settlers who refuse will be forcibly removed. However thousands of people, backed up by around 5,000 others from outside Gaza, are vowing to resist the evacuation.
