A Cypriot passenger plane with 121 on board has crashed on a mountain close to the Greek capital. The Helios airliner, travelling from Larnaca came down in the Kalamos area, some 30 kilometres north of Athens. Two Greek F-16 military jets were scrambled after air traffic controllers lost contact. One of the airforce pilots reported that he could not see the captain in the cockpit and the co-pilot was slumped in his seat. Police say there is no sign the Boeing 737 was hijacked. Rescue crews at the scene say there is no sign yet of any survivors.
