Dozens of children killed in attack in Iraq

At least 25 people, most of them children, have been killed in a suicide car bomb attack in the Iraqi capital Baghdad.

One US soldier is reportedly among the dead. The assault was targetting a patrol where US forces were handing out sweets to some children who had gathered around them. It is reported a vehicle laden with explosives drove up to a Humvee before blowing up. Nearby houses were reduced to rubble. The soldiers had been sent to the area following reports of an alleged suicide bomber driving around Baghdad’s al-Jadida area carrying explosives in his car.
