Lebanon’s caretaker Defence Minister, Elias Al-Murr, has been hurt by a powerful explosion in Beirut. Officials say he was only slightly wounded in the blast but two other people were killed with several others injured.Security officials say the blast targetted Al-Murr’s motorcade in the busy Christian suburb of Antelias. Black smoke billowed over the area as emergency services rushed to the scene near a major highway. This is not the first attack on a politician or a prominent figure in Lebanon. Most of the victims have been anti-Syrian but the outgoing minister was a supporter of the government in Damascus. Since late last year there have been a series of bombings including a massive blast in February that killed ex-Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri.
