The European Parliament will today debate a motion of censure. t was proposed by Eurosceptic members earlier this month. A friendly cruise on a Greek tycoon’s yacht was the cause of the upset. European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso was accused of conflict of interest.
His vice president, Margot Wallstrom has said his entire team of 24 commissioners might descend on the parliament. He also has the support of the four mainstream parliamentary groups. It was the leader of the UK Independence Party, Nigel Farage, who planned to have the censure. But his attempt has since been formally denounced as a publicity stunt.
