Freed Rumanian journalists arrive in Bucharest

Three Romanian journalists held hostage for almost two months in Iraq have arrived safely back home just hours after their release. They arrived on a military plane at a base near the Romanian capital Bucharest

The Romanian government said they were freed by their secret services and insists no ransom was paid. The journalists were freed yesterday. They had gone to Iraq on a short trip to cover the situation in the country and the role of Romania troops. At one point during their ordeal their captors threatened to kill them unless Romania withdrew its 800 soldiers currently serving in Iraq.
