Hollywood’s newest couple stole the show at the David di Donatello film awards which is Italy’s equivalent of the Oscars.Tom Cruise brought his girlfriend Katie Holmes with him to Rome where he picked up a life time achievement award. The couple confirmed they were an item on Wednesday after they were spotted holding hands in the Italian capital. Cruise who is 42 has been coy about how he met the actress who is 16 years his junior. Italian movie, “The Consequences of Love” was the big winner at the awards. The Mafia drama directed by Paolo Sorrentino scooped five golden statuettes in key categories, including best Italian film. Best foreign film went to the US Oscar winning “Million Dollar Baby”, Clint Eastwood directed and starred in the movie. Hilary Swank who plays an aspiring boxer in the tear jerker came to collect the prize. Spanish film “Mar Adentro” picked up Best European Film. Alejandro Amenàbar’s movie tells the true story of a quadraplegic’s 30 year campaign to be allowed to die. Two women try to change his life, a lawyer who supports his cause and a neighbour who wants to convince him that life is worth living.
