On the eve of the funeral of Prince Rainier of Monaco the principality is preparing to welcome dignitaries from around the world
Security for the occasion has been tripled, which for the midday funeral will virtually cut off Monaco from the outside world; three kings , and a number of heads of state and governments are among the delegations from 56 nations.
Traffic jams are likely from Friday morning onwards, and civil aviation and maritime transport will be banned from the surrounding airspace and seas until the end of the ceremonies. The city state is likely to be closed for business all day; the casino has already said it will close as have many shops, and flags and wreathes are decorating many houses along the route the funeral cortege will take.
