The latest public opinion survey on attitudes to the European Constitution in France indicates a rise in ‘no’ sentiments.

The level of favourable response was 46% but more of the previously undecided appeared to have made up their minds in opposition to the new charter. Respondents who would vote ‘no’ in the referendum to be held May 29 in France now account for 54%. The treaty needs the backing of all the EU members states to go into force.
