Miss Europe 2005 winner crowned

world news

A shocked-looking 22-year-old German beauty has been crowned Miss Europe at a packed ceremony in Paris, beamed out live on television to more than 50 countries. A tearful and emotional Shahrivar Shermine, who has Iranian origins, beat off 36 other budding beauty queens.

And it is no surprise they are all so keen to win – along with her new title, Shermine received a staggering 50,000 euros, holidays in Tunisia and the French Alpes and some very expensive jewellery. Narrowly beaten were Miss England, Miss Armenia, Miss France and Miss Slovakia.
