Berlusconi calls for truth over secret agent's death

The Italian Prime Minister has welcomed a US inquiry into the fatal shooting of an Italian intelligence agent in Iraq.

Silvio Berlusconi told parliament that because of the two countries strong relationship, “Italy had a right to demand the maximum collaboration in order to discover the truth of who is responsible.” The Italian leader also said he was pleased the US government had accepted his request to have Rome’s representatives involved in the investigation which is expected to last three to four weeks. Agent Nicola Calipari was shot dead as he was escorting freed hostage Giuliana Sgrena to safety.
