Indonesian journalists go missing in Iraq

Two Indonesians are the latest journalists to have disappeared in Iraq. The man and woman, both of whom worked for a private television channel, are thought to have been seized west of Baghdad.

The Indonesian embassy in the capital has confirmed the two are missing but has stopped short of saying they have been kidnapped. Contact with them was lost on the main road from Baghdad to the Jordanian capital Amman, in the area of Ramadi – a hotbed of Sunni insurgents. The suspected kidnapping follows the seizure of Italian reporter Giuliana Sgrena earlier this month, and of French journalist Florence Aubenas in January.
