Condoleezza Rice starts European tour

Condoleezza Rice has arrived in London on the start of her first European trip as US Secretary of State, where she is hoping to heal rifts with former allies over the war in Iraq. The visit, which is largely seen as a warm-up for US president George W Bush’s own trip to Europe later this month, will take her to eight European countries, Israel and the West Bank. Rice’s visit is also expected to coincide with a summit of Middle East leaders next week.
