“The Aviator” gets 11 Academy Award nominations

In just over a month’s time, the red carpet will be rolled out for cinema’s great and good as they go head-to-head in the 77th Academy Awards. Leading the field with 11 nominations is “The Aviator”, Martin Scorsese’s film biography of Howard Hughes, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

Also nominated in the Best Picture category are Clint Eastwood’s boxing tale “Million Dollar Baby”, “Finding Neverland”, the Ray Charles biography “Ray”, directed by Taylor Hackford, and Alexander Payne’s bittersweet comedy “Sideways”. The ceremony takes place in Hollywood on February 27.
