The two consortiums vying for control of Europe’s Galileo satellite network have made their latest sealed offers to Brussels.

Eurely, led by the French telecoms outfit Alcatel and Italy’s Finmeccanica, is up against iNavSat, a joint operation run by aeronautic firm, EADS and Thales, both French based. The winner of the competition will be in charge of operating the satellite navigation network for 20 years – a deal worth an estimated 500-million euros a year. A final decision is expected mid February.
