Kerry votes in hometown of Boston

Democratic candidate John Kerry headed for his hometown of Boston to cast his vote, before attending a traditional election day lunch. The Massachusetts senator wound up his two-year quest for the presidency with an 18-hour marathon that took him from Florida in the south to Wisconsin in the upper Midwest, where he urged Americans to vote for change:

“Today’s the day of a new beginning,” he told supporters. “It is this magic moment when the greatest democracy on the face of the planet gets to show the world how we work. “Look at you all here this morning. You are ready to go. Get your neighbours out there to vote. Together we will change the direction of this country. We will put common sense and truth back into the decisions of this nation.”
